Community
Resource Guide for Hutchinson and Reno County Kansas, and some of the surrounding
area
The MHA worked with the Feist Area Wide Directory
for years to provide "Turning Points," a community resource guide
for Hutchinson and Reno County. Instead of it being in the directory, it is
now available here to allow for much easier access, and quicker updating. We
will update it periodically, but it's best to call any organization listed and
double check that the information listed is still correct. Thanks.
Treatment is Available to Everyone
in Kansas
Kansas provides mental health care for everyone,
regardless of ability to pay. A community mental health center is designated
for each county. These centers also work with people who have insurance. If
you do not have insurance, fees are on a sliding scale, based on income.
There are 29 centers around the state, most covering multiple counties. Find the one for your area at http://www.k-state.edu/counseling/topics/mhlinks_files/cmhc.html
Adult ADD
The prevalence of ADD
in adults is unknown; very few have been studied. A multifactored evaluation
of an individual is important in the diagnosis of ADD. The assessment is designed
to look for the presence of lifelong patterns of behavior that indicate underlying
attention and impulse problems.
Current symptoms of an adult with ADD may include:
Distractibility
Disorganization
Forgetfulness
Procrastination
Chronic lateness
Chronic boredom
Anxiety
Depression
Low self-esteem
Mood swing
Employment problems
Restlessness
Substance abuse or addictions
Relationship problems

Compeer
Compeer matches community volunteers with people who are recovering
from a mental illness. Volunteers receive extensive training. This relationship
changes both lives, and people with a Compeer friend report signficant advances
in self esteem and other similar issues. They also have far less hospitalization.
Compeer is a program that makes sense from every angle. To volunteer, call or
email us.
Speaking Events
The Mental Health Association is available to speak to
your group, club or organization at no cost. Topics range from stress reduction
